Lenny's Sub Shop was recently featured in the Tallahassee Democrat in an article titled “Lenny’s Sub Shop opens first Tallahassee store inMidtown.”
 

In the article, Chris White and Derrick Crandall, owners of Lenny’s Sub Shop in Tallahassee, discuss their new location opening at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Thomasville Road in Midtown. They discuss why they wanted to go into business together as brothers, and why they specific why they wanted to bring the Lenny’s brand to the area, and what differentiates it from competitors. Brent Alvord talks about their future development plans for the area and state.

Lenny's Sub Shop opens first Tallahassee store in Midtown

The brick building at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Thomasville Road in Midtown was once a gas station, then a dance studio, and later a cell phone store. Today it reopens as Tallahassee’s first Lenny’s Sub Shop.

The restaurant, which begins serving at 10:30 this morning, is the venture of brothers and restaurant veterans Chris White and Derrick Crandall, who have have plans to open four more locations in their Leon County franchise territory, they said.

Lenny's Franchisee Featured in Entrepreneur Magazine

Edith Kelly-Green, Lenny's franchisee, was recently featured in the February 2013 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine.

The article, which includes a photo of Edith Kelly-Green, talked about her success as a business owner and the largest multi-unit franchisee in the Lenny’s franchise system. The article also mentioned her previous experience at FedEx Express and how that experience helped her transition into a franchising success story. A retired FedEx exec builds a mini sandwich empire

In 2004 Edith Kelly-Green was settling into retirement. After almost 30 years with FedEx - ultimately serving as vice president and chief sourcing officer for FedEx Express at the company's Memphis, Tenn. headquarters - her days consisted of waking up early, reading at Starbucks and working on the finances of several nonprofits.

A suggestion from her family prompted Kelly-Green to consider opening a Lenny's Sub Shop. "My daughter was a college sophomore at the time and said, 'I eat there all the time. You have to invest!'" she remembers. "I knew the CEO and called him, thinking I'd just invest some capital. But he convinced me I'd be happier as a franchisee."

New Lenny's in Tallahassee, FL

Lenny's is excited to announce a new opening on Feb. 7, 2013 in Tallahassee, Florida.

Franchiser Chris White, just 33 years old, is opening the location with his two business partners: his 29 year old brother and his 84 year old grandfather. All three have a history in restaurants, but when they came together to open a business, found they had a difference of opinions.

Chris wanted wings, but his brother was working for a pancake chain at the time. Their biggest concern was the quality and taste of a product they wanted to believe in. There was a Lenny's near his brother's work that they happened to try together and were blown away. They easily sold their grandfather on the idea of opening a Lenny's and the rest is history to be made!

With the economy bouncing back and returning increase of patronage at dining establishments, Chris and his family are eager to open next week. With the rest of their extended family surrounding the Tallahassee are, this is sure to be a successful family affair for quite some time.
