Brent provided great comments about how the payroll tax component of the deal won’t change company strategy or dynamics.

Operators feel pressure to inspire loyalty as "fiscal cliff" payroll tax increase threatens consumer spending

Lost in the headlines that last week’s legislative resolution to the “fiscal cliff” would permanently freeze income tax rates for households earning less than $450,000 is the fact that a two-year-old payroll tax holiday expired, which operators worry could mean less spending at restaurants.
Yet while many restaurants roll out cyclical promotions related to value, operators said the response to the 2-percent increase in the payroll tax in 2013 should not be a price-focused marketing blitz but renewed efforts to inspire loyalty through customer service.

SUCCESS THROUGH CHARITY: Lenny's Sub Shop owner credits networking, charity for growth in community
by ALDO NAHED

December 26, 2012CUMMING, Ga. — The success of Lenny's Sub Shops' two locations — Alpharetta and Cumming — have followed a formula that owner Bruce Longmore says he will continue to apply.

Give and network.

"The more we gave, the better our store did," Longmore said. "Other than networking and giving to charities, we haven't really marketed our business in any sizable way."

Longmore, 50, bought the existing Lenny's Sub Shop on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta five years ago. Six months later, he bought the Market Place Boulevard location in Cumming.

He was glad he did.

When he bought the Cumming location, it was doing about $12,000 a week in revenue. Now they regularly bring in $21,000 and more per week.
